According to Celebuzz, Kim Kardashian will be doing her part this Saturday in trying to help spread awareness about ovarian cancer by participating in a designer shopping event dubbed “Super Saturday Live!”.
Working with QVC, Kim Kardashian will help to draw in a big crowd to the event, where guests will have the chance to meet her and to buy designer items with discounts of as much as 50%.
All proceeds from the purchase of the designer items will be donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, also known as OCRF, in order support research and development for an early detection test to screen for ovarian cancer.
Every year, ovarian cancer claims about 13,850 lives in the United States alone and sadly, according to the non-profit foundation Ovations, nearly 22,000 women diagnosed in the U. S. each year are in more advanced stages of the disease.
Developing an early detection test is therefore essential since those whose symptoms are diagnosed early have a much higher survival rate "Last year I teamed up with Kelly Ripa for Super Saturday on QVC, an amazing shopping event that raises awareness and money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and this year we’re teaming up again to support the great cause”, Kim said on her blog.
