Ironically, on the day former President Bill Clinton was rushed into emergency surgery for his heart condition in New York City, a whole lot of influential women were getting ready in another part of Manhattan to wear red in an effort to confront heart disease clothes on.
All generations of famous faces were represented wearing red in all shapes, sizes and various degrees of glitz on the star-studded runway, including Joan Collins, Heidi Klum, Kim Kardashian, Ravine Simon, Robin Roberts, Felicity Huffman, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Valerie Harper. And the list goes on.
These gracious, beautiful, famous, gutsy females where all together to tell the truth about heart disease by showing up for the Heart Truth Red Dress Collection Fashion Show. And the truth is: More women die of heart disease than any other disease known to (wo)man.
Sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), a division of the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Red Dress was introduced by the NHLBI in 2002, as the national symbol for heart disease awareness in women (though men should pay attention too).
